Galathea Systems has won the contract to provide NMEC with a technologically advanced ticketing system to control allocations, take bookings and issue tickets for an estimated twelve million visitors to the Millennium Experience during the year 2000.

The system provided by Galathea Systems - ENTA - utilises Microsoft Windows NT and SQL server database through the use of call automation equipment in the call centre. It will support up to 100 call centre users and will allow both domestic and overseas customers to book tickets in advance on the Internet.

Ken Robinson, Operations Director for NMEC said: "Visitors to the Millennium Experience during the year 2000 will be required to book their tickets in advance before arrival - clearly a robust and efficient system was required for this task.

"Following an extensive evaluation of the five bids submitted for our ticketing system, we found Galathea's ENTA software to be the most comprehensive and functional in an extremely competitive market. It is particularly pleasing that the contract has been awarded to a small, highly innovative British company."

ENTA has a strong pedigree, and is already used by other major tourist attractions including the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Sadler's Wells Theatre, the British Library, the former Royal Yacht Britannia, Westminster Abbey and the Royal Academy of Arts. ENTA has recently won the contract to supply ticketing software to London's largest theatre owner, Stoll Moss Theatres. Stoll Moss venues include ten major West End theatres such as the Palladium and the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Tickets for the Millennium Experience go on sale during Autumn 1999 and will be available via a customer hotline, an Internet web site, the Camelot network of more than 25,000 distributors and from travel trade partners including rail and coach operators.
