Aust Business Council expects wider =2 Canberra

He said business was looking for a total package.

"It is going to be very important that for example the foreign tax credit arrangements
... meet the needs of those companies that are operating internationally," he said.

"Before one can applaud this outcome we need to know how it will be paid for, where the
price will be paid, who will pay it and what impact that will have on the overall
competitiveness of the total package."

The Financial Review today said Treasurer Peter Costello argued for the 30 per cent rate in
Cabinet but a bloc of ministers, including National Party Leader John Anderson, Defence
Minister John Moore and Industry Minister Nick Minchin, said tax incentives must be retained.
