Bowls: Glasson, Murphy left to rescue bowls hopes
Singles players STEVE GLASSON and KAREN MURPHY have been left to save the blushes ofAustralia's Commonwealth Games bowlers.
The highly-rated Australians have endured a lean time on the slow, rain-sodden greensin Manchester.
So far the Australian medal tally stands at a solitary bronze medal to the disabledtriples team of NEVILLE READ, PHILLIP KEARINS and JAMES REYNOLDS.
And defeat for the men's pair of ANDREW SMITH and KELVIN KERKOW, 14-9 at the handsof world champion duo GEORGE SNEDDON and ALEX MARSHALL of Scotland in the quarter-finals,has left just GLASSON and MURPHY remaining as medal hopes.
However, both are looking promising.
MURPHY is already into the quarter-finals and was unbeaten in her three pool matches.
GLASSON is also unbeaten atop his pool and all but assured of a quarter-final spotwith one pool match remaining.
